Join Allyson (AKA the “Crazy Cemetery Lady”) to learn how to identify the stresses and dangers historic headstones face and how to clean different types of stones without damaging them. Participants
will have the opportunity to try out the techniques on headstones in Bayside Cemetery during the workshop.
Allyson Stephenson is a native New Yorker who moved to the North Country in the 1990’s. She became interested in preserving historic cemeteries during the COVID-19 pandemic and has attended several training courses over the years on proper cleaning techniques. To date, Allyson has volunteered in 9 cemeteries (with permission), cleaning over 1,600 stones.
