The La Présentation Association is proud to present a Revolutionary War reenactment event to be held on August 9 & 10 called the “Skirmish on the Oswegatchie!” This will be the first time they have hosted a Revolutionary War event at Fort de La Présentation.

For those not familiar with Revolutionary history in Ogdensburg, the British Army, after the French and Indian War, manned a Fort named Fort Oswegatchie until 10 years after the end of the War of Independence.

There were two Rebel scouting parties sent from the Mohawk Valley to gather information about the strength of Fort Oswegatchie. Those raiding parties are the theme of the association’s “Skirmish on the Oswegatchie” weekend event.

Each of our reenactor groups will be presenting programs for the public to enjoy, including a recreation of a legal challenge based on historical records. Jack Downing will be returning to continue a demonstration of dug-out canoe construction. For the first time, members of the Native North American Traveling College will be on hand to present programs relating to the culture and history of the Mohawk people.

The gates open at 10:00 AM on both Saturday, August 9, and Sunday, August 10. The admission price is $5.00 for adults and $2.00 for children (ages 6-16). Free admission for children (ages 6-16) accompanied by a paid adult on Sunday. A food vendor will be on hand for the public’s enjoyment.

Please be advised that the Abbe Piquet walking trail will be closed from August 8–11.
